Jessica Bowman Yanez

Attorney & Counselor at Law

Attorney at Law and NC Board Certified Specialist in Immigration Law.

About Attorney Yañez

A native of Greensboro, NC, Attorney Yañez knew that she wanted to be an attorney from the time she was a child.

She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish from UNC Greensboro and her Juris Doctor Degree from Elon University School of Law.

Her first adventure abroad was to Valencia, Venezuela as a high school student. This instilled a deep appreciation of cross-cultural experiences and sparked her fluency in Spanish.

Prior to becoming an attorney, she worked as an immigration law paralegal at two prominent firms in Greensboro.

Since founding her practice in 2012, she and her team of legal assistants have assisted individuals from more than 60 different countries in a broad range of complex immigration matters.

In 2016, Attorney Yañez became an NC Board Certified Specialist in Immigration Law, which means she is officially an immigration nerd. She has served as an Adjunct Professor of immigration law at Elon University School of Law since 2017. She previously served for several years as the EOIR (immigration court) liaison for the Carolinas Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.

She and her husband, Agustín, have two children, Henry and Sophia, and a rescue dog named Dash. Attorney Yañez loves spending time with her family, running, traveling, reading, writing, eating good food, listening to good music, and art – particularly street art.

She and her husband went through the immigration process themselves, so she has a deep appreciation for the challenges that immigrants and their families face. She is a relentless advocate for her clients. She enjoys working with them throughout their cases and staying in touch long after they become residents and citizens.
